Good Hope welcomes Martinique Almendro: Registered Trauma Counsellor.
Martinique is at our Paarl branch at TC Newman Hospital
I spent my early years in the Northern Cape and later relocated to Villiersdorp, a small town situated in the Overberg region. I have always been intrigued by thought processes and endeavored to understand the triggers of emotion driven responses. I completed my four year B.Psych Hons Eqv degree at Midrand Graduate Institute, Durbanville in 2013. During my internship I worked at various community placements, such as Durbanville Children’s Home, Tygerverg Hospital and Goodwood Community Health Clinic. I soon developed a passion for therapeutic work with children and individuals affected by trauma. I then worked within the field of community development at a local non profit organization, while completing my Masters in Child and Family Studies at the University of the Western Cape. Thereafter, I worked in private practice in the local community and surrounding areas. I am an avid enthusiast of development and growth of the self, and aim to incorporate that within my therapeutic work. Working at GHPS grants me the opportunity to facilitate meaningful change and hope and I am honored to be part of the organisation. I currently work part time at the TC Newman Day Hospital for GHPS, in addition to private practice and affiliation to employee wellness programs.
